In the mid 70's, I began a regular daily practice of meditation. I think of this as possibly the most important moment in my life. Meditation opened doors for me I never knew existed, and allowed me to become sensitive, insightful, intuitive, and compassionate. Over the years, I have become a teacher of different approaches to meditation. In the Autumn of 1979, I attended two back to back six-month courses in residence exploring the field of consciousness through meditation. Each year I spend time in retreats. My interests have drawn me to various traditions of meditation primarily: Transcendental Meditation, Bon Po, Tibetan Buddhism, Kashmir Shaivism, Western Mysticism, and the simple, but powerful infusion of Inner Light.
In 1985 after having received acupuncture treatment for many years, I began formal studies at the Traditional Acupuncture Institute in Columbia, MD to become an acupuncturist. It was the first accredited acupuncture school in the US, and I received both my Certificate of Competency, and my Master's degree in Acupuncture there. Licensed by the Board of Medicine in MD in acupuncture, I began my private practice in Silver Spring, MD where I continued to practice until 2005.
In September 1991, I took a two-year training program in Chinese Herbal Medicine with Ted Kaptchuk, OMD, author of The Web That Has No Weaver, which was offered through the Traditional Acupuncture Institute. Later in 1993 through collaboration with the Traditional Acupuncture Institute, the College of Integrative Chinese Medicine (UK) offered a two-year continuing education training in Traditional Chinese Medicine that I participated in. This training in the Eight Principles patterns and syndromes rounded my previous Five Element training, and enriched my understanding and further study of Chinese Herbal Medicine, and acupuncture.
In May 1996, I completed requirements and became a Diplomate in Acupuncture by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
From 1995-1997, I studied a little known style of Tibetan acupuncture from the ancient Bon Po tradition. This training was a rare opportunity in which I learned a highly esoteric approach to working with energy combining star gates with the chakra system and the meridian system. This tradition uses extraordinary points taught only through an oral tradition which are not part of the traditional acupuncture charts. Having studied many types of energy work, this experience opened the way for my engaging in all that I had learned and that I would continue to learn from a unique perspective.
In June 1998, I completed a two-year intensive training program in the theory and practice of Gestalt Psychotherapy, taught by Rudolph Bauer, Ph.D. at the Gestalt Therapy Training Center in Washington, DC. Rudy and Sharon Bauer also started the Washington Center for Consciousness Studies. Through 2004, I enrolled in many of the continuing education courses they offered, and regularly meditated at their center, meeting visiting yogis and lamas from many traditions. This time with the Bauers was extremely valuable.
In 2001, I trained with Dr Eric Pearl, the founder of The Reconnective Healing, and The Reconnection. I offer this valuable re-alignment to anyone interested in unfolding to higher states of consciousness or to possibly assist with health issues that have not responded to conventional modalities. For more information on The Reconnection, and Dr. Eric Pearl, visit his website at www.thereconnection.com
The Commonwealth of Virginia granted me a license to practice acupuncture in Virginia in February 2002, where I opened a practice in Woodstock, VA. I practiced there part time through 2006.
Toyo Hari is a style of Japanese meridian therapy that was developed by highly sensitive blind master acupuncturists from Japan. This training was completed in June 2002, and provided me with additional tools for treating clients both profoundly, and symptomatically.
Throughout my more than 20 years of study of Oriental Medicine I have had the great fortune to study Qi Gong with six different masters of this soft martial art. From time to time I offer Qi Gong home practices to clients who have the interest and motivation to incorporate them into their daily self-care as a way of improving their vitality, and building on their acupuncture treatments.
During the first two months of 2004, I studied Ayurvedic medicine with Dr. Pankaj Naram, one of the Dalai Lama's physicians, in Mumbai, India (Bombay). I was exposed to pulse diagnosis and many of the Pancha Karma (deep purification) treatments, and gained a familiarity with some Ayurvedic herbal preparations. I share with those who have an interest in maximizing their self-care many of the home remedies I learned for common ailments, as well as marma points (an Ayurvedic style of acupressure) to strengthen the energy and help with acute symptoms. In some circles, it is thought that marma, gave birth to acupuncture.
Later in 2004, I began a three-year mentoring program with Bill Bauman, Ph.D through the Center for Soulful Living. The tract I followed was devoted to aligning oneself with one's Soul to access one's deepest wisdom, and to live embracing all of Life. These programs also enhanced and deepened the healing gifts of healers, and trained us in the art of Soulful Leadership to support others to live life from these natural, expanded, enlightened states of consciousness. In 2007, I became a Trainer and Mentor with the Center for Soulful Living. I love being affiliated with this organization and its members.
In late October 2006, I moved to the beautiful red rocks desert of Snow Canyon in Ivins, UT to specifically spend a year immersed in the resonance of the red rocks, and to devote time to the first of three stages of the development of Quanta: The Divine Light Structure. I was licensed in UT as an acupuncturist though I practiced acupuncture infrequently.
In 2007, my first story, “Riding the Wave of Grace”, was published. It is a story about the events that led to the development of Quanta: The Divine Light Structure and appears as a chapter in the book, Extraordinary Women Sharing: The Power of EDGE (Everyday Divine Grace-filled Expressions)
At the end of October 2007, I returned to Littleton, CO. where I am doing individual healing/ transformational sessions, trainings, and writing my first book on Quanta: The Divine Light Structure.
